The Head of Tax is now looking to add a newly created Indirect Tax Manager role to the London team. Role Overview: As the Indirect Tax Manager, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of indirect tax accounting, compliance, and controversies. This role requires a dynamic individual with expertise in both UK and US indirect tax frameworks, as well as experience in navigating complex tax environments – ideally to include Spain & Germany. Key Responsibilities:
Oversee global indirect tax compliance, including VAT, GST, Sales and Use Tax, and other applicable taxes across various jurisdictions.
Manage the preparation and submission of indirect tax returns and ensure compliance with local regulations.
Handle indirect tax accounting and reporting, ensuring accuracy and adherence to relevant standards, including SOX compliance.
Provide guidance and support on tax planning strategies, identifying opportunities for tax efficiency.
Address and resolve tax controversies, liaising with tax authorities and managing audits as necessary.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to educate and assist in indirect tax matters, providing insights into compliance requirements and implications.
Monitor legislative changes in indirect tax laws and evaluate their impact on business operations.
Develop and maintain robust processes and documentation to support compliance and audit readiness.
Utilize your understanding of hospitality and travel tax dynamics, including TOMS, car rental taxes, and lodging taxes, to enhance tax strategies.
Qualifications:
Minimum 6 years of indirect tax experience with a strong emphasis on UK and US indirect tax regulations.
Proven experience in a US public company is highly desirable.
Strong knowledge of VAT, GST, Sales & Use Tax regulations, with the ability to apply them effectively in a global context.
Familiarity with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOX) related to tax compliance and reporting.
Experience in the hospitality and travel sectors, including a solid understanding of TOMS, car rental taxes, and lodging taxes.
Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with various teams and communicate complex tax concepts effectively.
