Group Financial Controller
High-Growth SaaS Technology Business | London | £90,000-£120,000 + Equity Potential
The Consultancy Group has been retained by an exceptionally well-funded technology business to appoint its first Group Financial Controller.
This is a rare opportunity to join a high-growth, venture-backed software company at a pivotal stage of its journey. With a highly experienced leadership team, significant market opportunity, and ambitious growth plans, the business is now seeking a finance leader who can establish the foundations required to support scale.
The role has been created because the business has reached a point where stronger financial infrastructure, reporting capabilities, and financial controls are needed to support future growth. While the company remains lean and entrepreneurial, the executive team recognises the importance of building a robust finance function ahead of the next phase of expansion.
Reporting directly to the CFO and working closely with an impressive executive leadership team that has successfully built and scaled category-leading technology businesses, you will have the opportunity to shape finance from the ground up and become a trusted commercial partner to the wider organisation.
The Opportunity
This is far more than a traditional controllership role.
You will be responsible for creating the finance function's operating framework, establishing best-in-class financial reporting processes, implementing controls and governance, and developing a single source of truth for financial information across the organisation.
You will play a central role in helping the business transition from startup foundations to a scalable operating model, ensuring finance can support strategic decision-making and future growth initiatives.
Key responsibilities will include:
Building and developing core finance processes, controls and policies
Establishing robust monthly reporting and management information packs
Creating a reliable and scalable financial reporting framework
Driving improvements in systems, automation and financial data quality
Partnering with leadership to support commercial and strategic decision-making
Managing external relationships including auditors, tax advisers and outsourced providers
Supporting future fundraising, expansion and growth initiatives
Developing a finance function capable of supporting rapid scale
The Candidate
We are seeking a qualified accountant (ACA preferred) who combines strong technical finance expertise with experience operating within high-growth technology environments.
You will thrive in entrepreneurial businesses where resources are limited, priorities evolve quickly, and there is an expectation to roll up your sleeves and solve problems.
The successful candidate will likely demonstrate:
ACA qualification, ideally trained within a Big 4 or leading accountancy practice
Post-qualification industry experience within a SaaS, software or technology business
Experience operating in a startup, scale-up or high-growth environment
Strong financial control, reporting and process improvement expertise
Proven experience building or significantly enhancing finance functions
The ability to operate both strategically and hands-on
Excellent stakeholder management and business partnering skills
A commercial mindset with the ability to influence decision-making across the business
Why Join?
Opportunity to build a finance function from the ground up
Significant exposure to an outstanding executive leadership team
Join a business at an exciting stage before major growth
Broad remit spanning finance operations, controls, reporting and commercial support
Genuine opportunity to influence the future direction of the company
Dynamic, entrepreneurial and collaborative culture
Potential for longer-term career progression as the business scales
